Wow! You are an AMAZING church! I loved seeing so many of you on Easter Sunday, and I loved that many of you stepped out of your comfort zones to invite someone to be with us in worship. There are so many stories I could share with you, but here are just a few that still have me smiling today:
- I heard from one of our members who invited a neighbor to church. She had not been in church for several years and faced some very difficult situations in her life, but on Sunday she shared how great it felt to be with us in worship and asked if she could return.
- There was a young couple that was invited by someone from our church, and they attended one of our services. Both of them enjoyed the service so much that they said they will definitely be back.
- A young family came and said their daughter was invited by one of our kids, and she insisted they come to church at Royston First UMC on Sunday morning.
How amazing is God? I am so excited and proud to be your pastor, and I believe God is doing an amazing thing here in Royston. But the best is still yet to come! Earlier this week, someone asked me what we will do now that Easter is over. Holy Week and Easter can feel like a race and when we celebrate the Resurrection, we feel like we have reached the finish line. But Easter is just the beginning.
As Easter people we have a new hope in the amazing love and grace of Jesus Christ. As Easter people, we know that we are not finished, but we are simply getting started. As Easter people, we continue to look at how God is active all around us and invite others to come and experience the risen Lord! Don’t let the excitement fade because the calendar says Easter is over. When we celebrate and serve a risen Lord, we can celebrate Easter every day!
This Sunday, I will be out of town to officiate a wedding for one of my former youth. I will miss being with you in worship, but I am thrilled for you to hear from my friend, the Rev. Betsy Butler (see her information below). I hope you have a great weekend and I look forward to you hearing from Betsy in worship on Sunday at 8:45 and 11:00!
Together with you,
P.S. If you have not been to Centerfield Coffee Shop this month, please go and enjoy some of their delicious coffee, pastries, sandwiches, salads, and desserts. Each month, Centerfield gives away their tips to a mission and this month, our youth mission trip to Jacksonville is one of the recipients of the tip money. It’s an easy and delicious way to support our youth. Next Tuesday, I am going to treat four people to lunch at Centerfield. E-mail me if you want lunch. Here’s the catch: I’ll buy your lunch and you leave the tip. Let me know if you are interested.
