“But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.” – 1 John 3:17-18
At Royston First United Methodist Church, our prayer is that we may be “one in ministry to all the world.” That means caring for those in our own community, our surrounding communities, across the country, and around the world. Through our mission initiatives and partnerships, we seek to live by Acts 1:8: “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Mission Initiatives
FRIDAY’S CHILD
Friday’s Child Ministry is another mission we provide, with weekend supplements of food for insecure children in our community. Volunteers prepare bags at the church on Thursday afternoon, and deliver the bags to the school to be sent home with children on Friday. The cost to support one child for the school year is $180.
ROYSTON C.A.R.E.S. (Churches Adopting Royston Elementary School)
Royston First UMC has teamed up with other churches in our community to adopt our local elementary school. Throughout the year, we have shared the love of Jesus with faculty, staff, and students by sending notes, providing gift cards, offering words of encouragement, and praying for the teachers. We are proud of our teachers and students at Royston Elementary School, and we love to let them know that!
Mission Partnerships
RAINBOW PANTRY
With food insecurities high, we have partnered with Rainbow Pantry to help meet the needs of our local community. The Rainbow Pantry is located in Royston and serves over 5,000 people annually. Food distributions are usually held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. Throughout the year, we sponsor canned food drives to collect food and items needed for the pantry. Suggested donations include bar soap, toilet paper, laundry soap (powder), baby food, diapers (small sizes) and wipes, hygiene items, breakfast items (cereals, pop tarts), and canned food. Be sure to check our church calendar for the next food collection.

If you or someone you know is in need of financial assistance for food, shelter, or utilities, please contact our church office. We will be happy to help you find the help needed. Royston First UMC partners with many local organizations to help individuals in dire situations. COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE FUND
Within a five mile radius of our church campus, there are approximately 30% of the people living below the poverty level. We are working with Community Resource Services to address the financial needs of our community (rent, utilities, etc.) and Rainbow Pantry to meet the food and material needs? Will you consider making a special offering to our Community Assistance Fund? This fund will be used to help families in Royston and Franklin County as they navigate through the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
