Youth Ministry

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. – Colossians 2:6-7

Making Disciples of Jesus in Middle School and High School

The Royston Youth Ministry exists to “make disciples of Jesus who make disciples of Jesus.” We do this through providing irresistible and invitational environments for youth (grades 6-12) so that they may grow in their faith and understanding of who God is and how they can live as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.

THRIVE (WEDNESDAY EVENINGS)

THRIVE is a time each week where students gather for games, fellowship, worship, and discussion. THRIVE meets from 5:30-8 PM in the Gym. Doors open at 6 PM for dinner and “hang time” in the gym and youth room. We have free dinner provided parent volunteers.

CARRY THE CROSS

Carry The Cross (CTC) is our annual discipleship weekend where youth gather together at the church for a weekend to *literally* carry a cross around the Royston/Franklin Springs area while also participating in worship, small groups, and fun that is designed to help us in our walk with Christ.

Carry the Cross 2025 will be March 21-23, 2025. Registration and more information will be available beginning December 1, 2024.

ENCOUNTER WEEKEND

Encounter is a fall weekend retreat where our youth are invited to get away and encounter Jesus. During the weekend, we hear from a guest speaker, worship, play games, and have a lot of fun as we experience God’s love in an amazing way.

Encounter Weekend 2024 will be November 22-24. Registration and more information about this retreat will be available beginning August 1.

MISSIONS AND OUTREACH

Our students participate in a variety of local missions in the Royston area from serving at the Rainbow Pantry to assisting with summer camp for people with special needs.

During the summer, our students travel on a domestic mission trip in the southeastern part of the United States.

CORNERSTONE (CONFIRMATION)

Cornerstone is a time for middle school and high school students to learn more about their faith and what it means to be a follower of Jesus as a member of the United Methodist Church. After an 8-week program that includes a retreat to Camp Glisson, students will have an opportunity to decide if they want to confirm the vows made at their baptism and profess their faith in Jesus Christ.
